So Long 2017
It’s been an interesting year for me as an author. I’ve learned more (thank heavens), and moved forward on some projects that I’ve been wanting to do. There have been victories and set backs, but all in all I’m pleased.
In February, I released the second book of the Holliday Hotel series, Sweetheart Suite. I was able to offer it in both ebook and paperback versions. It was wonderful to see this series move forward and to be able to publish it through KDP (Amazon’s publishing service) which was much more economical both to me and to my readers.
Also this year Merge Left Marketing put together my website. To have a page of my own was a goal of mine, and I’ve been pleased with the results. Recently I’ve even been able to update some of the things on my website by myself – something I never thought I’d be able to do. I have been thankful for my husband’s help as I fumble around with it, but when we figure it out I’m always so proud.
I discontinued my relationship with Westbow Press this year. After a large investment, I saw almost no return. I was never happy with the price they set Resolution Room at feeling like it was too high to expect even my most loyal readers to pay. Being able to do other books through KDP gave me the confidence I needed to step away from their company.
Within the past few months I was able to get my previous Christmas novellas (Christmas Angel and Snowfall) into paperback as well. Having books in print allows me to do giveaways which was something I had always wanted to do. So throughout November and December I’ve been having a new giveaway each week.
Finally, I was able to have my newest Christmas novella, A Christmas Carol Wedding, published – also available as both an ebook and in print. There have been a couple giveaways for it as well. I hadn’t planned to add on to the KW Consulting series, but Jessica’s story was so clear in my mind that I had to tell it. (If you’ve been able to read this one by now – or any of my books – please go leave a review on Amazon.)
So what’s in store for 2018? Obviously I don’t know for sure, but I do have some exciting plans. First I would like to republished Resolution Room in print through KDP. Second, the next book in the Holliday Hotel series should be released in the spring most likely in March or April. I’ve been working on it and I’m so excited about some of these new characters. Third, I already have several ideas for my next Christmas novella and I’m looking forward to beginning work on that.
Happy New Year!
