There are three projects that are in the works right now. I wanted to give you a status report on each of them.
The first book in the Holliday Hotel series was in print for maybe a year with Westbow Publishing. I always felt they priced the book too high, and I was vocal with them about that, but they could not or would not lower the price. So I canceled my contract with them, and have been wanting to get it back in print through KDP (Amazon’s publishing). Through KDP I have more control over the price and can offer it much more reasonably. I’m hoping that one day they will also allow me to offer it at a sale price, but I don’t have that capability yet.
As of right now, I have Jon Reis from Art by Jon Reis working on my book formatting and cover art – things that I don’t know how to do to make my book look nice. It should be ready by this weekend and available for purchase in paperback once again, this time at a much reduced price. I have already received the first draft of the cover art, and it’s fantastic blending the original artwork with the style of Sweetheart Suite. I’m very happy with it.
Holliday Hotel Book 3
The third book in the series is in the editing stage. I have four different people look through it for me to catch things I may have missed. I’m beginning to hear back from them that they’re finishing and have received two of the editors notes back, so I should be able to start going through their notes soon. As soon as I have all of that accomplished, I will send this project to Jon as well for formatting and cover art design. It should be available for purchase sometime in April. It was such a fun story to write centering around the power of the resurrection and what that means for us.
It seems odd to be writing for Christmas already, but in order for it to be done and ready for you to read by Christmas, I need to start now. I had two story ideas in mind before I started writing and this idea popped in unexpectedly and would not let me go. So I pushed the other two stories aside (they’ll be written later, I’m sure) for this one, and I think it’s going to be fun!
And an event . . .
On top of these projects I am also scheduled to speak at my church’s spring tea event on March 17 at 12:00 pm. If you are in the Tucson area and would like to come, you can purchase tickets at ccctucson.org for $15. The theme is Picture Perfect, and it should be a lovely time of food, fellowship, and fun.
As you can see, I’m keeping busy. I always get excited when I new book is getting ready to release. In the coming weeks I’ll be revealing the title and cover art for the new book, as well as details about the story, and a preview!
